Responsibilities:
- Patient Check-In and Check-Out:
- Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and welcoming manner.
- Accurately verify patient information and insurance details during check-in.
- Collect co-pays and other payments, provide receipts, and maintain accurate financial records.
- Schedule follow-up appointments and update patient records.
- Communication:
- Answer incoming calls and address patient inquiries, appointment requests, and other concerns.
- Respond to emails and HER messages promptly and professionally, forwarding messages to the appropriate staff members as necessary.
- Appointment Scheduling:
- Coordinate and schedule appointments for multiple physicians and medical staff.
- Ensure the appointment schedule is efficiently organized, considering patient preferences and clinic availability.
- Confirm upcoming appointments and manage appointment reminders.
- Medical Records Management:
- Maintain and update patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Prepare and transfer medical records as required, following established protocols.
- Administrative Support:
- Assist with administrative tasks, such as filing, faxing, and photocopying.
- Help coordinate patient flow and assist in resolving any scheduling conflicts.
- Ensure the reception area is clean and well-organized.
- Insurance Verification:
- Verify patient insurance coverage and pre-authorization as needed.
- Assist patients in understanding their insurance benefits and options.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other clinic staff to ensure efficient patient care.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Additional responsibilities, as assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; some college coursework or medical office experience preferred.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) and other office software.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance verification is a plus.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Strong multitasking skills and the ability to handle a high volume of patient interactions.
