Consider taking on a Summer Internship opportunity with Sharp Electronics, collaborating directly with the VP of Human Resources and Hiring Managers as well as the marketing and media teams on a dynamic recruiting project. As an intern at Sharp, you will be at the heart of reshaping how we articulate jobs and market the company within our organization and to prospective new candidates. This hands-on experience will not only deepen your understanding of HR practices and company branding, but also provide you with the unique chance to contribute to the strategic alignment of our workforce.

 

Dive into the world of job descriptions, job postings as well as new hire company videos working closely with seasoned professionals to refine and elevate our approach to attracting talent. This internship promises exposure to the intricate nuances of talent management and an opportunity to leave a lasting impact on how we attract and retain top talent at Sharp Electronics.

 

Once on board, we want to keep our employees up to date on the happenings around our company, such as employee events, training, volunteer activities and industry gatherings and showcases.  Using our intranet and office video displays, assist in the upgrade of our internal business and employee calendar.  Elevate your skills, gain real-world insights, and be a part of shaping the future of HR practices at Sharp.

 

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN AND EXPERIENCE:

  • We will introduce you to HR best practices and explore the many platforms used by HR in the hiring and onboarding process.
  • Gain an understanding of HR talent acquisition processes in a corporate setting while reviewing our company branding to prospective new employees.
  • Contribute to projects with measurable impacts on recruiting and compliance.
  • Access our internal web and audio/video platforms to stay connected with employees and provide up to date information.
  • Support other HR strategic initiatives as opportunities arise.

Job Description Rewriting:

  • Craft job postings that appeal to diverse candidates and highlight Sharp as a top employer.
  • Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition team to review and rewrite job descriptions for the entire organization, ensuring compliance with ADA standards.
  • Conduct thorough research to align job descriptions with industry best practices and legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with HR team and hiring managers to enhance understanding of ADA compliance and best practices in job description creation.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of job description revisions and updates in a systematic manner.
  • Manage the project timeline by engaging with hiring managers to gather timely feedback as they draft and update the job responsibilities of each position.

ATS Management - iCIMS:

  • Using the updated job descriptions, create external job postings that will help attract a more diverse population.
  • Utilize the iCIMS ATS system to update the job library and templates, ensuring accuracy and alignment with external postings.

      Additional HR Projects:

  • Review and assist in upgrading our new employee welcome videos.  Provide feedback and ideas on the content and messaging. 
  • Assist in the formatting of an internal corporate events calendar using our SharePoint intranet platform as well as internal video wall displays.
  • Collect and review data to support DEI goals for Talent Acquisition in 2024-2025.
  • Create a PowerPoint presentation highlighting locations and job functions for enhanced diversity efforts.

  • Summer internship, working 4 days/week in the office and 1 day remote, up to 35 hours/week.
  • Seeking someone with solid writing skills, capable of crafting job descriptions in collaboration with hiring managers.
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in human resources, marketing, media or web design or a similar field requiring strong communication skills.
  • Experience with an Applicant Tracking System, preferably iCIMS, or technical aptitude to learn new IT systems.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Outstanding attention to detail with strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Time management and organizational skills are required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective engagement with managers at all levels across the organization in information collection.

Summer Internship Details:

  • Compensation: The hourly rate is $17/hr.
  • Duration: The internship program spans approximately 10 weeks, running from June 3rd to August 9th, 2024.
  • Work Arrangement: This is a hybrid position, requiring interns to be in the office in Montvale, NJ, four days a week (Monday to Thursday), with Fridays designated for remote work at the manager's discretion. 
  • Transportation: Since the office location in Montvale, NJ, is not accessible by public transportation, interns must have reliable transportation.
  • Housing: We do not provide housing or a housing stipend for interns.
  • Work Visa: Unfortunately, we do not offer work visa sponsorship for this role, including participation in Curricular Practical Training (CPT), Optional Practical Training (OPT), and F-1 Visa programs.
