The Village of Buffalo Grove is seeking an HR Generalist.
The HR Generalist at the Village of Buffalo Grove plays a vital role in supporting the Human Resources department by providing comprehensive HR services to all departments and employees within the organization. This position is responsible for executing a variety of HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, training and development, and compliance with relevant employment laws and regulations. The HR Generalist acts as a trusted advisor to management and employees, providing guidance and support on HR-related matters to foster a positive and productive work environment.The Human Resources Generalist will perform and manage a variety of complex, technical and some administrative functions.
- Conducts salary and benefits surveys and responds to surveys submitted by government and outside agencies. Performs specialized research on HR topics and compiles and analyzes data. Prepares reports and spreadsheets as requested. Provides support and guidance to HR Clerk.
- Assists the HR Director with the administration of employee and retiree benefit programs.
- Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes changes to the current pay plan for competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
- Coordinate the onboarding and offboarding of employees with departments, and develop automated processes for efficiency.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Manages the Village's employee evaluation system and its pay-for-performance program.
- Accurately and efficiently types and edits a variety of correspondence, reports, agendas, letters, charts, numerical information, and other material requiring judgment as to content, accuracy, and completeness. Independently composes a variety of letters and memos.
- Coordinate Tuition Reimbursement Program. Perform annual tuition analysis. Answer questions from program participants and request documentation needed for reimbursement. Process paperwork for reimbursement.
- Maintains accurate records and files of departmental and Village-wide programs. Maintains the pages on the Village website and intranet.
- Performs other duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned.
Candidates should exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal and conflict-resolution abilities. Demonstrated organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail are essential for success in this role. The ability to analyze problems critically and implement effective solutions is crucial. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in prioritizing tasks and delegating when appropriate. Integrity, professionalism, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality are paramount. A basic understanding of employment-related laws and regulations is required. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite or related software is expected, and familiarity with HRIS and talent management systems is preferred, or the ability to quickly learn them.The current salary range for this position is $$73,072.48 - $108,902.56. Starting salary commensurate with experience.
