The Human Resources (HR) Generalist assists in the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources Department and payroll functions in accordance with the Heartland Health Services' (HHS) mission, strategic goals, federal and state laws and regulations, performance and outcome objectives, and accreditation standards.
Essential Functions
- Coordinates and conducts employee recruitment and on-boarding activities/processes with hiring managers.
- Works with hiring managers and Vice President of Human Resources (VPHR) to complete job descriptions.
- Conducts benefit enrollment for all new hires and all employees during open enrollment.
- Administers various HR plans and procedures for all company personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains employee handbook.
- Assists in completion of all biweekly,?monthly, and annual?payroll duties including verifying payroll, insurance,?401K, and tax calculations.?
- Administers the compensation program, in conjunction with the VPHR, and makes suggestions for revisions. Participates in surveys to ensure pay scale complies with changing laws and regulations and meets the organization's objectives.
- In coordination with HR Admin/Coordinator, maintains Human Resources Information System (HRIS) records, maintains paper filing system, and complies reports as requested.
- Manages company Leave of Absence programs including employee communications, certification distribution and review, and reporting.
- Works with the Compliance Department to distribute, maintain, and report on mandated personnel training and competencies.
- Assists with the development and implementation of the employee evaluation process and ensures that all employees have timely reviews.
- Assists with employee terminations/exits and employee counseling.
- Supports various employee discount coupons by contacting companies for coupons in consultation with the VPHR.
- Submits online investigation requests and aids in reporting follow-through and completion.
- Performs other projects and duties as assigned by the VPHR.
- Supports clinic compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, and HHS rules, regulations, protocols, and procedures governing the clinical provision of medical services as well as those relating to, but not limited to, workplace safety, public health, and confidentiality.
- Supports and is involved in HHS's continuous quality improvement efforts designed to improve patient outcomes.
- Works in consultation with clinical teams, direct clinical support staff, and indirect clinical support staff to develop and implement policies and procedures that maximize patient-centered communication and services.
- Maintains and assures confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HHS's policies.
- Reports building/equipment problems through the appropriate channels.
- Performs any clerical duty or department related task as assigned by supervisor in a continuously changing medical practice.
- Attends all staff meetings, department meetings, and any other meetings as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Communications or related field.
- Preferred 5-10 years of experience in Human Resources or like position.
- SHRM-SCP preferred
- Must possess exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
- Strong interpersonal skills necessary in order to interact with employees and vendors.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products
