Adoptive and Foster Parent Recruitment and Retention Services
Job Title: Foster Family Recruiter/Support Coordinator
Reports To: Reginal Resource Team Supervisor
Status: Full-Time
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Our Mission: To provide expert, comprehensive services in southeastern Michigan that strengthen children, adults, and families impacted by abuse and neglect, autism, developmental disabilities, and mental health challenges so they are successful in their communities.

Job Summary:
A Recruiter/Support Coordinator is responsible for the recruitment of foster and adoptive families in the region served that meet the specific service area placement needs and address gaps in available homes.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Coordination of yearly recruitment and retention efforts of assigned regions.
  2. Providing community presentations to large and small groups.
  3. Establish a rapport with the prospective foster families.
  4. Coordinating direct marketing outreaches.
  5. Involvement in the local Foster Family community and Foster Family groups
  6. Identifying supportive resources for current and prospective foster families.
  7. Maintaining knowledge of the Foster Care Licensure process and communicating to clients.
  8. Document all contacts, referrals, and other information that is needed for reporting purposes.
  9. Maintaining contract compliance.
  10. Participates in required training.
  11. Actively participates in required meetings and trainings.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
1. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  1. A minimum one year of experience recruiting foster and adoptive parents is preferred.
  2. Knowledge of the child welfare policies and procedures is preferred.
  3. Ability to effectively speak to small or large groups as well as to individuals.
  4. Ability to relate to current and prospective adoptive, foster, and kinship families.
  5. Ability to relate to local DHS and private agency personnel.
  6. Ability to work a flexible schedule to effectively recruit prospective foster families.
  7. Ability to travel/work throughout the region as necessary.
  8. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  9. Ability to provide culturally competent services that show sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.

Education, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid Michigan Driver’s License, appropriate insurance and use of own vehicle.
Working Conditions:
  1. Office environment
  2. The position may require evening and weekend hours and travel throughout the region.
Physical requirements:
  1. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, walk, stand, sit, communicate verbally and in writing, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard.
  2. Close vision requirements due to computer work.
  3. Regular, predictable attendance is required.
