The Director of Human Resources is responsible for establishing, overseeing, and evaluating all Human Resources policies, procedures, and practices, ensuring compliance and optimization along with fostering employee engagement and a positive performance-oriented culture. The Director identifies short and long-range strategic talent management goals for Hubbell Realty Company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains HR staff. Supervises and directs the activities of the Human Resources staff including acting as coach and mentor. Oversees the daily workflow of the department. Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations and handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
- Collaborates with and provides consultation to executive leadership to support the organization's long-term mission and goals through talent management.
- Plans, directs, and supervises all activities relating to the administration and maintenance of compensation and benefits programs. Develops, implements, and manages programs in a manner that ensures cost effectiveness, market competitiveness, and internal equity among employees.
- Identifies key performance indicators for the organization's Human Resources and talent management functions, assesses the organization's success and market competitiveness based on these metrics.
- Researches, develops, and implements competitive compensation, benefits, performance appraisal, and employee incentive programs.
- Administers benefit programs, including conducting analyses and serving as primary contact with benefit brokers and providers, workers compensation, unemployment, and retirement plans. Spearheads and provides leadership during the annual open enrollment process.
- Provides guidance and leadership to the human resource management team. Assists with resolution of Human resource, compensation, and benefit questions, concerns, and issues.
- Oversees daily administration of other HR services as directed or assigned, including recruitment and selection, promotions, transfers, contract negotiation and administration, workers compensation, OSHA reporting, affirmative action/EEO compliance, job classification, performance evaluation, and employee relations in accordance with quality management principles and overall objectives of the organization.
- Develops, prepares, generates, and analyzes ongoing and ad-hoc special reports pertaining to employee personnel information and data, including issues such as benefits costs, staffing levels/deployment, turnover, recruitment, applicant tracking, affirmative action/EEO, compensation, promotions, etc. Effectively utilizes the data processing system to obtain, store, and analyze pertinent data and information. Using the data, provides consultation to Hubbell leadership and managers on matters as needed.
- Drafts and implements the Human Resources and administration department budget.
- Participates in professional development and networking conferences and events.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, business administration or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Master's degree in Human Resources preferred.
- Minimum seven years of Human resource management experience required with strategic, talent management, and/or business development experience highly preferred.
- HRCI certification and/or SHRM certification required.
- Minimum five years' experience resolving complex employee relations issues.
- Thorough understanding of state and federal laws concerning employee benefits and compensation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications included Word, Excel, PowerPoint and HRIS software applications required.
- Must be in a constant state of alertness to perform essential functions.
