This opportunity is primarily "work from home," but should be based within driving distance of our Chicago, IL office for in-office attendance when needed.
Job Summary
The Accounts Payable Specialist is responsible for processing, tracking, and recording payments in an accurate, efficient, and timely manner. This position will oversee various vendor accounts and review and record their respective invoices for accuracy. The Accounts Payable Specialist will also assist the accounting team with various reconciliations, invoices, expense reports, and month-end close.
Work Performed and Job Requirements
- Manages Accounts Payable processes, including invoice processing, payment preparation, and vendor management.
- Ensures accuracy and timeliness of all Accounts Payable transactions.
- Communicates with vendors to resolve any billing discrepancies or issues.
- Reconciles Accounts Payable transactions and maintain accurate records.
- Assists with month-end close processes and provide support for audits.
- Processes employee expense reports and verify compliance with company policies.
- Assists with ad-hoc projects as needed.
- Other job duties as assigned.
Education/Training
Associate degree in accounting or related field is required. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.
Experience
1-2 years of experience in Accounts Payable and/or general accounting required. Familiarity with QuickBooks or other accounting software strongly preferred.

- Knowledge of Accounts Payable principles and practices.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and recording skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize responsibilities with conflicting deadlines and manage time well.

- Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Computer, printer, copier, scanner, fax, telephone, web conferencing.
Working Conditions
Work is sedentary in nature and performed in an office environment. Work may be stressful at times.
Physical/Mental Demands
Work requires hand dexterity for office machine operation; stooping, climbing, and bending to files and supplies; mobility to complete errands; stand/sit for up to eight hours each day; ability to communicate clearly when using the telephone; requires sitting; standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting, and twisting at times; moderate levels of stress.
