The Role:

As an Accounts Payable Specialist in our public company, you will be a key player in our finance team, ensuring meticulous financial record-keeping and compliance with both U.S. GAAP and public accounting standards for SEC reporting purposes. Your role is crucial in managing our financial health, particularly in cash management, which is vital for our continued growth and public company status.

Characteristics & Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate financial records in compliance with U.S. GAAP and public accounting standards for SEC reporting purposes.
• Accounts Payable recording and reconciliation for multiple operating entities on scheduled rhythms and ad hoc as needed by management.
• Manage Payables full-cycle period closings, including monthly, quarterly, and year-end.
• Work with internal and external resources providing financial data as requested.
  
• Coordinate with external audit teams for SEC compliance and reporting.
• Maintain robust internal controls.
• Optimize financial data for effective reporting.
• Manage insurance renewals, business licenses as needed
• Provide financial support and reporting for day-to-day operations.
• Participate in budgeting and forecasting processes.
• Process stock administration activities in line with company policies

Tools and Concepts Familiarity:

• Proficiency in QuickBooks Enterprise, QuickBooks Online, Google Workspace, and other relevant financial tools.
• Experience with modern communication and project management tools.

Accounts Payable Specialist Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field, preferred but not required.
• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with a strong preference for experience in startups or public accounting.
• Proficient in U.S. GAAP and knowledgeable in SEC accounting standards.
• Demonstrated expertise in cash management.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Local to the Chicago area, with the ability to work in-office.
