ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY
SUMMARY: Cal Poly Pomona Enterprises is currently searching for one Student Communications Assistant to work in the Marketing Department. The Student Social Media Assistant supports, develops, and identifies campus outreach, marketing, and Social Media initiatives. This position is designed to provide opportunities to students to hone customer service skills, technical skills, flexibility and versatility, team development, and foster professional growth.
The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills as this position will engage and interact with the student body and campus community through various channels both in-person and on Social Media. Additionally, this position will be tasked in supporting the Enterprises' Marketing Department staff members in various marketing and outreach efforts.
ABOUT US: As the largest employer of students on the Cal Poly Pomona campus, the Foundation offers valuable work experience and hands-on training to approximately 1,500 Cal Poly Pomona students each year. The Foundation offers positions in various fields; whether it is in the area of technology, science, retail, culinary arts, hospitality1500 management, leadership or research grants, these student employees participate in Cal Poly Pomona's learn-by-doing philosophy and acquire practical skills in their designated field of study.
The Foundation also contributes operating support to nearly 1,100 Foundation and scholarship programs every year, including Bronco Athletics and the Norman J. Priest Scholarship. In addition, the Foundation administers grants and contracts, contributes to campus security, and supports several university publications. The Foundation contributes over $1 million annually to Cal Poly Pomona.
SOME OF THE THINGS YOU WILL GET TO DO (this is just a small sampling of work variety):
The Marketing Student Assistant will be tasked with completing various marketing and communication related tasks which may include but are not limited to:
- Creates dynamic written, graphic, and video content for Social Media
- Film, edit, and caption videos for Social Media
- Conduct research, brainstorm, and create Social Media campaigns
- Use analytics tools to gauge the success of campaigns
- Attend in-person/on-campus and virtual events and provide live Social Media coverage
- Conduct outreach efforts at events, including informational booths, displays, and other related materials
- Identify and research outreach activities and opportunities to increase awareness of the Foundation and its units
- Perform other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Enrolled as a Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design Major or similar field
- Able to present information to various audiences
- Working knowledge of Social Media applications
- Basic knowledge of graphic design software such as Canva or Adobe Illustrator
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must be enrolled as a full-time student at Cal Poly Pomona
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience using Social Media platforms, even if not professionally
- An eagerness to learn more about Social Media
- Portfolios, Social Media reels, or posts consisting of any work in the above areas will be greatly welcomed.
