Payroll Specialist Accountant

Staff Accountant - Montebello, CA

Allied Feather and Down, a manufacturing company, seeks a Staff Accountant to join our team. The primary purpose of this position is to perform daily accounting activities... Ensuring that proper accounting and recording of company transactions are performed in an accurate and timely manner... As well as processing weekly payrolls for multiple entities.

Essential Job Functions:

• Prepares and records month-end closing journal entries.
• Responsible for inventory file preparation and reconciliation to ERP.
• Maintains and reconciles fixed assets to the general ledger.
• Reconciles balance sheet accounts (i.e., Cash, Prepaid, Liability, Accrual) to the general ledger.
• Assists in the preparation of the company’s financial statements.
• Responsible for preparing quarterly Royalty statements.
• Responsible for preparing weekly/monthly Sales reports.
• Responsible for preparing weekly Sales to Labor analysis.
• Responsible for preparing monthly Borrowing Base Certificate
• Responsible for governmental compliance reporting (i.e., annual business property statement 571L filing, Economic Census Survey, etc...).
• Prepare audit schedules, data, and information needed for the financial/bank auditors.
• Processes weekly/bi-weekly payroll and produces payroll-related reports.
• Works on special projects as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Knowledge of computer-based spreadsheets and reporting.
• Knowledge of Sage 100 ERP is a plus.
• Must have knowledge of payroll processing systems. ADP WorkForceNow is a plus.
• Must be proficient in spreadsheet reporting (i.e., Excel) skills.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
• Must be able to prioritize work to meet scheduled deadlines while handling multiple tasks.
• Must have excellent accounting/analytical skills, strong organization, and communication skills.
• Ability to function as a team player.
• Ability to work with scheduled deadlines.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required
• Minimum 2-3 years of progressive accounting experience
• Minimum 1-2 years of payroll processing experience

Experience:

• Accounting: 2-3 years (Required)
• Payroll: 1-2 years (Preferred)
• GAAP: 1 year (Preferred)

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (Required)

This is a salaried/exempt position reporting to the Controller.
