Position Overview
Provides administrative support to the Legal Services Department, including responsibility for departmental mail, telephone, document production, information entry and retrieval, and general administrative support duties. Provides customer service to members of the Texas Association of Counties (TAC) and assists TAC staff with questions about the department.
Essential Job Functions
- Answer, screen, and direct phone calls to staff and other entities as appropriate; take messages and field requests for information from callers to TAC's Legal Helpline.
- Enter call notes and set tasks for attorney follow-up.
- Perform routine administrative tasks for Legal Services Department, including database entry, workflow tracking, and other projects as assigned.
- Collaborate as a team member on internal special projects and new project development.
- Support attorneys and other department staff, as requested, including document production and distribution, data entry, and reporting.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Non-Essential Job Functions
- Maintain departmental supply and storage spaces.
Experience / Education Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- A minimum of two years' experience in a customer service or administrative position.
- Basic understanding of administrative and clerical procedures and systems required.
Other Skills & Abilities
- Position requires excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to relate to persons with a variety of cultural, economic and educational backgrounds.
- Position requires a high degree of professionalism in representing TAC, internally via contacts with board members, elected officials and employees.
- Must be proficient in use of personal computer and Microsoft Office products.
- Must demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making skills.
