Title: PMO Technical Specialist

Physical Location: Auburn Hills, MI (typically hybrid 3d/wk)

Percent Travel: 0-20%, primarily to Manufacturing Plants in Detroit Metro area

Job Description:

Capgemini is building teams to support our client, a global Automotive OEM in their various vehicle development programs. The PMO Technical Specialists reside within the Cross Carline & Project Engineering Team, with responsibly to ensure overall program level feasibility and target setting. A Technical Specialist directly supports the Vehicle Technical Manager throughout each vehicle development program.

The Technical Specialist brings cross-functional awareness and understanding of vehicle design and assembly processes. With this background, the Technical Specialist functions as the “eyes and ears of the program”, following up any issues which may arise in a proto build, and ensuring that the right project resources are brought to bear for a quick containment and resolution.

The Technical Specialist may be assigned to one or more vehicle programs based on the client’s needs and the program status. A Technical Specialist may support the development of a specific vehicle or may support development of common modules to be leveraged across several vehicles.

The Technical Specialist may perform any or all of these activities:

Interact with the Planning Manager and Planning Specialist to confirm feasibility of the plan
Work with purchasing counterparts to track sourcing and understand status
Generate part numbers and specifications based on the defined vehicle structure and composition
Coordinate Change Management
Review change plans to confirm feasibility
Coordinate with engineering teams to execute changes and obtain signoffs
Lead trial runs as needed to find issues or mitigate risks.
Share with the dedicated sites the modifications requested
Contribute to the quality convergence by synchronizing the part modifications with the project planning (batch of modifications).
Coordinate the Product/Process convergence & reactivity (mainly for Welding, Painting and Assembly) as a Technical Manager deputy:
Participate to modification batches organization on main topics, based on Change Management information (break points, part number change…)
Support defects solving coordination for main defects on Painting, Welding and Assembly.
Coordinate vehicle rework during the project by organizing dedicated rework/upgrade workshops (performed by team in charge of all mass production cars)
Where existing vehicles are re-used with modifications (e.g. fit/finish changes)
Where rework is required for vehicles in progress based on some managed changes
Coordinate Connections/Fasteners in order to minimize waste
Organize Connections/Fasteners meeting to coordinate the technical core team’s activity and identify roadblocks
As owner of the Connections/Fasteners dashboard, define with the Technical Manager the follow-up and final KPI (escalation to Project Manager)

Job Requirements:

· Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field, from an ABET accredited university.

· Automotive industry experience at an OEM or large tier 1 in Product development engineering

· Advanced to expert skill level in using Excel, able to use engineering knowledge to quickly compile the right data and clearly present it.

· Strong written and presentation skills are a must – able to clearly present a story to technical or management audiences.

· Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

· Must be a highly motivated, detail oriented, and a self-directed process thinker.

· Basic Proficiency using CAD and PLM software

Preferred Requirements:

· Full Program Life-cycle Experience & PDP understanding, including Launch experience

· Experience in multiple vehicle domains (body, chassis, powertrain, electronics, etc)

· Manufacturing process fundamentals understanding

· Ability to quickly learn use of proprietary software
