Work Arrangement
Onsite- This position will require you to be onsite on a full time basis. Work location is Bay City, Michigan.
The Role
As Execution Engineer, you will lead the launch activities for an Engine Block or Cylinder Head Machining module for the newest generation of V8 engines. Your role requires a high level of coordination and collaboration among the launch support teams and business partners. You will lead all in-plant activities, including installation, machine qualification and ramp-up to full production capacity, and will be accountable for Launch Deliverables (i.e., safety, quality, thruput, cycle time, etc.).
What You Will Do
- Collaborate with OEM's, installation crew, plant safety and core launch operations team from initial planning through start of regular production (SORP).
- Participate in simultaneous engineering, G-risk safety evaluations, layout and runoffs.
- Plan installation timing with Plant Engineering and coordinate OEM install supervision.
- Lead machine qualification and final-acceptance activities to ensure Statement of Requirements (SOR) and Global Machinery & Equipment Specifications have been met.
- Plan material and tool ordering to meet needs for machine runoffs, pre-production and PPAP build events.
- Lead G-comply safety verifications – complete checklist items and schedule approvals to meet project timing at red, yellow and green tag phases.
- Responsible for Safety Contract Management (SCM) of OEMs including training, pre-task planning and weekly safety observation tours.
- Participate in thruput improvement activities (TIP) to achieve production ramp plan.
- Drive corrective actions to complete all open issues to close Launch Deliverables by SORP + 6 months.
- Flexible to travel locally and internationally to support OEM builds and runoffs, including temporary off-shift and weekend work availability as required.
Additional Description
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
5+ years of experience in process engineering in metal machining with automation within a manufacturing environment or equivalent
Technical knowledge and experience in CNC machine tool programming and tooling
Experience with automation and sub-assembly equipment (feeders, presses, nutrunners)
Knowledge of Global Propulsion Systems Machinery & Specifications requirements
Working knowledge of Qs-stat, Solara and ability to analyze capability study data
Experience in project management
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles (GMS)
Bachelor’s degree with major in engineering or equivalent experience.

Candidate should consider mobility options upon completion of project
Previous Central Manufacturing Engineering (CME) experience in a launch
GM Global Common Controls Architecture experience
Experience with Safety Contract Management
Knowledgeable in PT-PM&C (production monitoring), data collection and analysis
Fanuc robot experience
Experience with Scrum & Sprint (agile framework)
Proficiency in AutoCad
This position is not eligible for ISP, ITAP or localizations.
