Description

Define passenger vehicle thermal protection (thermal runaway propagation (TRP), cabin comfort, and cost) performance strategy including radiators, cooling fan modules, pumps, fans, HVAC/cabin systems, and Electric Drive Units (DUs). Set technical objectives and tasks for virtual engineering, develop and integrate full vehicle cross functional co-simulation packages integrating Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) and Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) models including battery pack, driveline, HVAC/cabin, and DU models into single model, using MATLAB, Simulink and GT Power tools. Perform vehicle level virtual simulation for powertrain cooling, HVAC cooling, battery pack cooling, electric motor, high voltage power electronics component and thermal protection. Work on BEV programs with a focus on process efficiency and innovation. Develop and perform 1D and thermal control simulations solving heat transfer problems (radiation, convection, heat conduction and thermal insulation) for new programs based on vehicle content and functional objectives. Act as a Single Point of Contact for co-simulation users (SIL and MIL) for Thermal Systems to resolve concerns on usage, forecast and plan needs.                                                                                                                                   

Additional Description

Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field, and one (1) year of experience as an Engineer or related role.  Must also have experience with: performing vehicle level virtual simulation for cooling, electric motor, high voltage power electronics component and thermal protection.
