Position Description: The Director of Development is a multi-faceted fundraiser on the Culver-Stockton College Advancement team. The Director of Development builds relationships with new and existing prospects, secures philanthropic support for leadership annual gifts along with major and planned gift commitments. The director brings innovative outreach and engagement strategies, prompts the identification of priority prospects and gift opportunities, and provides management of donor relationships, timely and accurate reporting, and regular updates for the Vice President of Advancement.
Goals:
The Director of Development will work towards measurable goals in key performance areas, including in-person and virtual donor meetings, new prospect qualifications, leadership and major gift solicitations, and overall philanthropic production.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and cultivate new prospects, managing a donor portfolio to build a robust solicitation pipeline
- Solicit annual, multi-year, and deferred philanthropic commitments.
- Track and document donor and prospect interactions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Guide the development of prospect materials, including formulating cultivation plans / strategy and funding proposals
- Meeting with and/or arranging meetings for key staff with current and prospective donors
- Ensuring that current donors receive timely updates and reports, and are included in key organizational activities
- Working with communications staff to develop informational materials for potential donors
- Collaborate with advancement / college colleagues and volunteers to align donor interests with college priorities
Qualifications:
- Degree: A bachelor’s degree is required
- Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years in fundraising, development, sales, communications, public relations, or higher education
- Skills: Proficient communication, computer literacy, high professionalism, demonstrated time management, strong relationship-building abilities, flexibility in a dynamic environment, and attention to detail.
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.
