Job Summary
Join the Minnesota Department of Healthfor the opportunity to workin a ground-breaking position. We are seeking an experienced professional to conduct investigations and compliance efforts and coordinateinvestigations and Enforcement procedures for Minnesota's registered medical cannabis manufacturers, including cannabis dispensaries and approved medical cannabis testing laboratories on behalf of the Office of Medical Cannabis.
Working as a Compliance and Enforcement Inspector within the Compliance and Enforcement team, you will:
- Conduct site visits and inspections at manufacturing sites and cannabis patient centers.
- Oversee manufacturers' work including cultivation and extraction, creation of acceptable forms and dosages of cannabis, transportation of medical cannabis, financial condition, marketing, labeling, security, and product testing.
- Ensure compliance, enforcement, reporting, and audit of registry participants.
- Act as a resource to MDH, other state agencies, and law enforcement to conduct projects and provide technical consultation on issues associated with medical cannabis.
- Investigate and respond to complaints received from members of the public.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Three (3) or moreyears of professional level experience in public health, horticulture, law enforcement, or related field. This required experience must include the following:
- Knowledge of administrative law requirements and processes such as methods of lawful inspection, data practices, use of correction orders and/or administrative penalties, including suspension and revocation procedures.
- Experience with assessing/assuring compliance with state or federal laws, regulations or guidelines and conducting complex investigations.
- Knowledge of motivational strategies with the ability to apply these methodsto obtain voluntary regulatory compliance.
- The ability to remain firm yet professional while working under stressful situations and when confronting difficult Compliance and Enforcement issues.
- Ability to adapt to continuous changes sufficient to work constructively under pressure and cope with ambiguity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of federal and state laws relating to medical cannabis and the medical cannabis industry.
- Strong writing skills sufficient to draft memos, briefs, correspondence, investigative write-ups, administrative penalty summaries, etc.
- Experience conducting in-person inspections at business locations of regulated parties.
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating and executing multiple tasks and activities to effectively manage complex investigations and Enforcement proceedings.
This position requires successful completion of a background check and employment reference check.
