Communications Specialist

Summary:

The Communications Specialist is a key member of the Benedictine Advancement team who will support the Marketing and Communications Director. The Communications Specialist develops marketing and communications materials for internal communication programs that support and reinforce organizational objectives. The position also updates the Benedictine website and manages social media and other content.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Consistently report to work on time as scheduled, prepared to perform assigned duties and responsibilities during entire scheduled work period/shift.

· Execute Benedictine’s communications strategy across all platforms (print, web, digital, and social media). Support Benedictine’s Programs in execution of communication strategy as outlined by the Marketing and Communications Director.

· Write and create internal communication materials, and external materials such as newsletters, informational brochures and employment advertising.

· Develop and write marketing and public relations materials to support fundraising initiatives that help secure needed financial resources for Benedictine, with special emphasis on the campaign, annual giving, appeals, newsletters, and special events.

· Work with marketing consultants, graphics designers and photographers.

· Coordinate with Benedictine and Foundation staff to identify, post, and create relevant program content for the website and social media outlets including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Constant Contact and other outlets as appropriate.

· Ensure brand standards are used correctly on all platforms, and in all materials.

· Provide and model effective project management skills that lead to excellence in productivity and achievement of desired outcomes.

· Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with staff, parents, donors, and volunteers.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.

· Minimum 1 years’ experience in communications preferred, ideally in the nonprofit sector. Experience must include digital and social media marketing strategies and analytics.

· Must be a strong communicator and writer, able to develop powerful and inspiring messages.

· Must possess exceptionally strong verbal and written communication skills.

· Must be adept at visual presentations including graphics, and photographic skills.

· Must have demonstrated excellence in planning and organizational capabilities.

· Must demonstrate strength in decision-making and problem-solving; able to resolve conflicts, build consensus, and negotiate solutions.

· Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively required.

· Must be computer and technology savvy.

· Must be a minimum of 21 years old.

· Must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in US upon offer.

· Must pass pre-employment drug screen.

· Must pass pre-employment criminal background checks through CJIS as stated in Family Law Article 5-561, and pass pre-employment CPS check.
