- Develop, execute, and oversee a comprehensive internal and external communications strategy that supports the Student Affairs initiatives and activities. Ensures quality and appropriateness of all internal and external division marketing and communications activities, taking into consideration the institutional image, message, positioning, mission, goals, priorities and accomplishments of the Division and the University. Measure and review the performance of communications efforts, report on key metrics and trends. Develop, update, and manage content for the Division of Student Affairs divisional webpage and social media platforms. Develop and monitor implementation of common standards across all departmental websites. Focus on keeping content updated, accurate and accessible. Consult and collaborate throughout the Division of Student Affairs in managing their website content.Serve as communication advisor to the Vice President for Student Affairs and other members of the senior leadership team, providing expertise on a wide range of activities to include digital content, media outreach, and preparation of a variety of communication materials. Serve as an interface with the Division of University Marketing and Communications.Contribute to the planning, development, and distribution of targeted email communications and newsletters. Work with leadership and divisional partners to develop and highlight effective messaging. Highlight and promote divisional news.Collaborate with University Marketing & Communications to develop strategic communications, particularly in emergent situations or major developments that receive media or stakeholder attention.Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Marketing or other related field.Two years of work experience related to marketing/communications.Superior written, verbal, interpersonal, organizational, and public speaking skills, and attention to detail.Extensive knowledge of and fluency within social media platforms, content management systems, and email marketing platforms.Demonstrated ability to create engaging content, managing social media, and websites.Basic understanding of measurement tools (e.g. Google Analytics) and how to translate data insights into action.Ability to think creatively, strategically, and analytically.Ability to work effectively under deadlines and juggle priorities.Basic understanding of web accessibility standards.Ability to learn and understand the range of services and programs to ensure communications capture intended message.Experience in higher education, specifically Student Affairs preferred.
