Reporting to the Electronic Resources Librarian, we are seeking a E-Resource Specialist who will work on a collaborative team to provide responsive, effective, and evolving coordination of the life cycle of electronic resources management. The position focuses on ordering, licensing, setting up access, and troubleshooting electronic resources available to the University community. The position works closely with public services, library applications, technical services, and financial colleagues across the University libraries.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Places orders for electronic resources in various formats (e.g., databases, eBooks, e-journals, streaming videos and datasets).
- Sets up trials for prospective purchases.
- Reviews and negotiates licenses for electronic resources based on JHU licensing principles.
- Troubleshoots patron access issues and works with vendors and colleagues until resolved.
- Monitors a shared inbox to communicate and collaborate with library staff and vendors in resolving questions related to access, licenses, invoices, etc.
- Creates and maintains accurate online records in the library's Alma system, as well as in shared spreadsheets, wiki pages, and electronic files.
- Assists with platform migration projects.
- Assists with other technical services projects and responsibilities as time permits.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.
- Three years related experience.
- Additional education may substitute for experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of library acquisitions processes and electronic resource management systems.
- Experience reading library contracts.

The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers.
