Administrative Assistant for Department of Linguistics, Georgetown College - Georgetown University
The Administrative Assistant reports to University Professor Deborah Tannen, Department of Linguistics, and provides a range of support functions. Duties of the Administrative Assistant include but are not limited to:
- Assisting in the maintenance of graduate and undergraduate courses.
- Arranging travel; handling correspondence; processing requests to reprint Dr. Tannen's work.
- Communicating with TV, radio, and print journalists, students, academic colleagues, and the general public.
- Coordinating media interviews; planning events for Georgetown Linguistics faculty, students, and alumni.
- Maintaining office organization and researching a range of information.
- Managing the website and social media pages; and managing other office and tasks assigned as they arise.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year institution
- 2 to3 years of experience in a professional environment (especially administrative) is desirable.
- Familiarity with academic and publishing environments is helpful.
- Previous experience working in a university environment is a plus.
- Baseline knowledge of Linguistics and academic research skills are highly desired.
- Must have superior organizational skills and proven experience working independently.
