Performs highly advanced computer Systems Support work for a TxDOT department/division. Work involves coordinating and providing technical assistance for operational problems of agency Information Technology systems and operating automated equipment in a stand-alone network environment. May lead the work of others. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Essential Duties:
- Provides technical assistance troubleshooting software and hardware problems as well as problems involving office equipment such as phones, printers, and fax machines; escalates difficult problems to a higher level of support.
- Develops and updates technical support training documents for end users.
- Coordinates and performs installation and maintenance of software and hardware updates
- Monitors incoming technical support requests and responds to technical questions and issues in a timely manner.
- Performs asset inventory of department/division's Information Technology equipment.
- Assists supervisors with on-boarding and off-boarding of employees’ Information Technology equipment and network access.
- May lead and coordinate work of others
- Transfers and receives equipment and records transactions in database.
- Reviews and provides recommendations regarding the procurement of Information Technology equipment and software for the department/division.
- Coordinates, oversees, and/or performs the setting up of equipment for employee use and performs or ensures proper installation of cables, operating systems, or appropriate software.
- Maintains computer and hardware inventory records for new and surplus equipment.Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems.
- Provides support to end users in a timely manner.
- Reviews and maintains reports of all hardware that is assigned for system utilization on all inventory and ongoing procurement.
- Troubleshoots and coordinates with vendors and the Information Technology Division to maintain workstations, hardware, applications, and software.
- Coordinates onboarding and offboarding new and existing employees tracking incoming and outgoing equipment.
- Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general studies.
Experience: 5 years experience in providing computer Systems Support, help desk support, technical support, or related work experience. (Experience can be satisfied by full-time or prorated part-time equivalent). Related technical training or education from an accredited institution may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools
- Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs
- Sitting - prolonged periods of time
- Stooping-bending body downward and forward by bending spine at waist
- Kneeling-bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee(s)
- Crouching-bending body downward and forward by bending leg(s) and spine
