Summary:
We are actively seeking an IT Support Specialist with experience in Windows server technologies to provide on-site and remote tier 1-2 hardware and software help desk support to a federal government client and to assist tier 3 remote IT staff with on-site support of server and network infrastructure.
Essential Functions:
- Assist tier 3, remote IT staff with onsite, physical support of the server and network infrastructure
- Provide tier 1-2 help desk hardware and software support for employees at a federal government client within a Windows desktop environment, either in person or by telephone to remote users
- Utilize remote control software such as LogMeIn
- Install, patch, and maintain software installations for all corporate desktops/laptops
- Work with IT management to maintain backups of critical corporate data
- Maintain applicable records for equipment inventory and warranty/support information
- Consult software/hardware vendors for tier 2 and 3 escalations as needed
- Assist the IT Manager in selecting and purchasing appropriate computer/server equipment
- An associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. In lieu of a degree, equivalent work experience or a combination of both will be considered.
- 1 to 3 years of experience supporting end user computing environments (desktops/laptops)
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office productivity suite
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft SharePoint
- Strong hardware and software troubleshooting skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS)
- Patience with non-technical personnel, and exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite
- Individuals must be US Citizens and be able to obtain cleared access and permission to work on a military installation
- Experience with Program Information Management System (PMIS) tools
- Database experience (MS SQL Server)
- Knowledge of web development tools
- Experience with Windows servers, server clustering, and Hyper-V
- Experience with server/network racks and network cabling
- Experience managing system backups
