Job Summary
Sienna Dermatology is a new, state of the art dermatology practice providing medical, cosmetic, and surgical dermatology services. The Check-Out Receptionist is responsible for greeting patients as they check-out and offer them friendly and prompt assistance while coordinating the patients care. This includes but is not limited to: making appointments within the guidelines set forth by the practice, communicating office needs to patients such as obtaining referrals where needed, entering demographics accurately and displaying a strong understanding of insurance processes and cosmetic procedures offered within the practice, collecting and processing payments of all types, accurately logging all payments, general office duties and interfacing with billing service as required. The Front Desk Receptionist will also need to have basic competence in back office clinical duties.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Check out patients and complete the patient tracking in the EMR.
- Schedule patient appointments within operational standards and documents appropriately.
- Collect outstanding balances, coinsurances, deductibles, copays and self pay balances that are owed at the time of checkout.
- Accurately post payments and provide receipts to patients.
- Reconcile individual daily receipts and money collected with end of day reports to confirm money balances and then prepare individual deposit.
- Reconcile deposit for other staff members to confirm deposits balance.
- Batch credit card machine at the end of every day.
- Count petty cash to ensure accuracy and document on log daily.
- Maintain accuracy of patient demographic and insurance information by verifying this information at each patient encounter.
- Answers the telephone in a warm, friendly manner. Answers the back line within a few rings.
- Directs urgent calls to the triage assistant and ensures that action is taken.
- Addresses patient portal tasks according to practice protocols.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications and Skills
Receptionist must minimally have a high school diploma or equivalent. Those with experience in medical reception, a Certification in medical reception, medical billing, medical assisting and/or an associate’s degree is preferred.
