As the Payroll Manager, you'll oversee payroll and ancillary benefit functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing in compliance with regulations. Responsibilities
- Accurately prepares and processes bi-weekly payroll for 900+ hourly/salaried multi-state non-union employees in ADP Workforce Now.
- Calculates deductions, bonuses, commissions, and executes payroll adjustments/garnishments.
- Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
- Utilizes Excel for data analysis and payroll reporting.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
- Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
- Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information, including Cobra payments.
- Assists employees regarding benefit claim internal pay issues and plan changes.
- Oversees maintenance and updates of employee payroll records.
- Distributes all benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility.
- Responds to benefit inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and general inquiries.
- Assists HR Manager, serve as a backup, as needed with benefit management, maintain group benefit plan database, leave of absence requests and disability paperwork; medical, personal, disability and FMLA.
- Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts.
- Manage internal and external pay and 401k audits.
- Assists with the open enrollment process.
- Coordinates transfer of data to external contacts and vendors as needed.
- Handle payroll inquiries and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports to management as needed.
- Conduct periodic audits of payroll processes, practices, and technology to identify and address compliance gaps & risks.
- Support the team by conducting market analyses to identify pay disparities and assist in crafting new job postings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive experience in multi-state/ multi-facility payroll processing; payroll compliance experience is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, human resources or related field of study preferred.
- Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now and Excel
- Excellent understanding of payroll regulations, employee benefits and applicable laws
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
Preferred
- Certified Payroll Professional Certification (CPP) preferred.
- Payroll experience in the restaurant or equivalent industries with high-volume, seasonal workforces in multiple states
- Experience in a comparable industry as cultural fit is important.
- Experience implementing a new payroll system (preferably ADP Workforce Now)
