Position Overview
As a Payroll Administrator, you will process bi-weekly, multi-state payroll for a growing workforce of 1400+ exempt and non-exempt employees in the United States. This position is located at our corporate office in Chicago (downtown), IL, and will report to the Manager, Payroll.
Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly, multi-state payroll for a growing workforce of 1400+ exempt and non-exempt employees in the United States.
- Upload, verify, and audit payroll entries in Workday HCM including new hires, terminations, earnings, deductions and more.
- Ensure that all Federal, State and local laws and any compliance matters are followed.
- Audit monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll and tax reports, including W-2 processing, and filing and government reporting as needed.
- Create and run reports as requested by internal parties (Workers Compensation, 401(k), Audits).
- Collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as HR and Accounting.
- Demonstrate a high level of responsiveness to inquiries and requests from managers and employees.
- Respond to employment verifications in a timely manner.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Skills
- Minimum of three years multi-state payroll processing experience
- Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements affecting payroll.
- Demonstrated attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy and ability to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines and maintain high quality work.
- Proven knowledge of standard payroll concepts, practices and procedures.
- Strong analytical and mathematic skills.
Preferred Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience with complex payroll states; California, New York, Pennsylvania.
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) is a plus.
- Experience with Workday Payroll highly preferred; familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Outlook.
