POSITION DESCRIPTION
Management Strategies is an award-winning management consulting firm specializing in program management, process improvement, organizational development, change management and system operations. We are seeking an experienced SUSTAINABILITY ANALYST to support our client, the Sustainability Performance Office (SPO), at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) in Washington, D.C.
The successful candidate will perform the following tasks and activities...
- Conduct research, collect and analyze data, and support the development of reports, white papers, and procedure manuals in support of SPO program implementation.
- Support planning and delivery of strategic reviews and evaluations to analyze adherence to sustainability goals, patterns, preferences, and related data.
- Identify data sources, collect and analyze data, and support the production of analyses, reports, newsletters, or other publications.
- Effectively present technical information and responds to inquiries from SPO and DOE managers, program stakeholders, and the public.
- Coordinates collection and preparation of sustainability reports.
- Review, analyze, and interpret general environmental and sustainability periodicals, professional journals and reports, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations.
The Sustainability Performance Office at the U.S. Department of Energy oversees DOE sustainability efforts required by Executive Order 14057, Catalyzing Clean Energy Industries and Jobs Through Federal Sustainability, EO 14008, Tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad, and related Federal laws and regulations. SPO was created in 2010 to consolidate and streamline Departmental sustainability efforts. DOE Order 436.1, Departmental Sustainability, outlines the roles and responsibilities for managing sustainability at DOE. The order assigns the SPO as DOE’s principal point of contact on all sustainability matters, charging the office with implementing DOE’s Sustainability Report and Implementation Plan and managing compliance with statutory and administrative sustainability requirements. SPO provides assistance to DOE programs, sites, and national laboratories on meeting sustainability goals. It also represents DOE on external sustainability matters, including representation at interagency workgroups and meetings with the Office of Management and Budget and the Council on Environmental Quality.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
* Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, science, or engineering - Master’s degree is highly desirable.
* Experience: Three (3) years of relevant experience providing a range of planning, administrative, information management, programmatic, technical and support including data collection, processing, and analysis; intra- and inter-agency collaborations.
* Technical Skills: Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint), Python, Java, PAST, GHG Protocol Reporting and ArcGIS; Data Analysis using Excel, R, SQL, and Tableau.
* Performance Location: ONSITE at DOE Forrestal Building on Wednesdays ONLY (1000 Independence Avenue, SW, Washington D.C.) ; REMOTE all other days.
