We are seeking a paralegal to join our legal department to assist the asset management team. You will work with two attorneys to provide paralegal and legal assistant support on a dynamic and growing team that is responsible for 117 hotels owned by two publicly-traded REITs. Your primary responsibilities initially will include spearheading a comprehensive re-organization of the legal department's asset-management files; tracking key dates relating to legal documents and other obligations; preparing and reviewing legal documents, service of process, and responses to subpoenas; and assisting with various administrative tasks. This position reports to the Associate General Counsel (AGC).
Job Duties:
- Spearhead a comprehensive re-organization of the legal department's asset-management files
- Manage and maintain electronic files as new agreements are signed, new properties are acquired, and existing properties are sold
- Prepare summaries of material agreements as new agreements are signed or new properties are acquired
- Create and maintain reports tracking key dates relating to, and material terms of, certain legal documents to ensure all deadlines are met and for other reporting purposes
- Prepare and review initial drafts of documents such as letters, lease amendments, estoppels, responses to subpoenas, and commercial association notices, meeting minutes, and consents
- Track and respond to legal notices (litigation, zoning, state and local governmental property violation notices, tender notices)
- Track legal invoices and ensure prompt payment
- Assist the AGC update leadership with timely analysis and summaries of new legislation / regulations affecting the business
- Facilitate responses to requests for information from internal and external partners
- Enter data related to insurance claims into a database
- Facilitate lender consents for asset-management transactions
- Facilitate the franchise application processes
- Maintain vehicle titles and assist in transfers
- Provide administrative assistance including arranging of travel and preparing expense reports

Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as paralegal studies, legal studies, business law, or finance, preferred
- Paralegal certification is a plus
Experience:
- Minimum of two years of experience as a paralegal or legal assistant
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Working knowledge of legal terminology and legal writing; working knowledge of hotel-asset-management terminology is a plus
