Legal Assistant (Paralegal) to Forensic Medical Expert

Hybrid remote in (South) Austin, Texas

Pay Rate: $20.00 - $22.00/hr. (DOE)

Qualifications:

• Legal and previous office experience required.
• Paralegal certification or equivalent required.

Knowledge & Skills:

• Knowledge of CLIO legal software or similar billing/document storage is a plus.
• Knowledge of OneDrive or similar online file storage system.
• Knowledge of MS Office suite (Excel, Word, Sheets).
• Knowledge of Microsoft Teams or Zoom
• Organization of digital and tangible files.
• Detail-oriented, deadline-driven.
• Excellent writing skills.
• Experience in telephone communication with attorneys and staff.
• Ability to edit correspondence and documents.

Duties may include:

• Open new cases in the system and set them up for initial review.
• Organize and maintain legal/medical files.
• Calendar deadlines and other important dates.
• Collecting, examining, and organizing evidence and other legal information.
• Ability to make nuanced replies to a variety of emails.
• Maintain and organize schedules.
• Perform online research on various medical and legal topics.
• Utilization of social media.
• Billing (will be trained)
