In NC, we operate three pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities that are responsible for fulfilling different steps in our injectable and oral treatment supply chains. Our Emerging Technologies - Oral Finished Products facility in Durham, NC is a 194,000 square foot tableting and packaging facility that supports the production of our innovative oral treatments for patients with type 2 diabetes. The Position

Lead tactical & long-term strategic activities to drive process & compliance improvement within Bulk Process to ensure process & quality robustness & standardization across shift teams.

Essential Functions

  • Coach & mentor direct reports in accordance with the NN Way essentials
  • Develop long-term process & quality improvement plans with other departmental & site stakeholders
  • Provide Subject matter Expert (SME) support in conjunction with departmental Process Engineers for Bulk area processes
  • Drive quality process performance to meet business & customer needs
  • Process confirmation & continuous improvement of processes within the Bulk area
  • Identify trends proactively to drive & prioritize compliance improvement projects & initiatives
  • Drive departmental agendas in conjunction with other departmental leaders
  • Process Group Responsibilities (non-Technical) as required representing the Bulk area & contributing globally to better / best practices & projects for manufacturing compliance & robustness
  • Audit team coordination & development of audit standards / practices
  • Owner of procedural support for Bulk processes, Pas-X, & other systems as required
  • Follow all safety and environmental requirements in the performance of duties
  • Other accountabilities, as assigned

 

Physical Requirements

Moves equipment &/or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds within the facility using various body positions. Routinely operates & inspects manufacturing equipment using hands. Strap & unstrap pallets using hands. Must be able to be on your feet for up to a 10-hour shift. May require corrected vision to 20/20 or 20/25 based on role. May require color vision based on role. Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder. May be required to work at elevated heights. Occasionally works around odorous &/or hazardous materials. May be required to wear latex gloves. May perform critical job functions in extremely cold work environments depending on site. May position oneself within confined spaces for inspection if required of the role. Ability to work in loud noise environments with hearing protection. May be required to secure a motorized vehicle license & operate a motorized vehicle based on the role.

 

Development of People

Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process.

 

Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility.

 

Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field of study from an accredited university required
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in a manufacturing organization required, pharmaceutical manufacturing preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years of direct supervisory experience required
  • In-depth knowledge of Bulk processes & supporting systems (SAP, Pas-X,Novolims) preferred
  • Knowledgeable in Quality Management System, Lean & / or Six Sigma methodologies preferred
  • Proven track record for training, conveying complex information in an understandable way, & implementing sustainable process improvements preferred
