Job Description

Job Title:               Track Operations and Public Relations Support Staff, Bowman Gray Stadium

Department:          Winston Salem Speedway

FLSA Status:         Non-Exempt

SUMMARY:

The Track Operations and Public Relations Support Staff is responsible for overseeing various aspects of Track Operations to ensure the smooth functioning of events, as well as managing Public Relations activities to enhance the track's image and reputation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Sells Pit Passes
  • Signs in balcony users
  • Signs in deadhead list
  • Signs in Demolition Derby competitors
  • Signs in Chain Race competitors
  • Signs in Skid Race competitors
  • Inputs MyRacePass Data after each night
  • Calculates track point standings and compares with event night calculations
  • Sells NASCAR licenses
  • Sells and collects driver registration forms
  • Coordinates driver license numbers and point standings with NASCAR
  • As required operates scoreboard console
  • Operates scoreboard graphic displays
  • Performs race night public relation functions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); prior experience in retail sales, customer service, or event operations preferred; basic math skills and proficiency in handling cash transactions accurately; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.  Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid Driver License

OTHER SKILLS

  • Proven experience in event management, Public Relations, or operations, preferably in motorsports or entertainment industry.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with diverse audiences in a dynamic environment.
  • Basic math skills and proficiency in handling cash transactions accurately.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and adapt to changing demands during peak event periods.
  • Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, in alignment with the race schedule and event calendar.
  • Dependable and punctual, with a commitment to fulfilling assigned shifts and responsibilities according to the race schedule and event calendar.
