Job Description
Large Mankato law firm looking for legal administrative assistant. The successful candidate must have excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office software and Adobe Acrobat Professional and the ability to learn other software programs particular to private law firm practice. Must also be a team player with a high-level of attention to detail, have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to multi-task.
Job Duties:
- Assist in a ll aspects of legal case preparation and file management
- Prepare legal documents and other legal papers
- Proofread and review prepared materials for correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, format, and content to ensure there are not inaccuracies or omissions and they are in proper format for court acceptance.
- Transcribe dictation, minutes of meetings, recordings of conferences, settlement discussions, and interviews.
- Format and assist with preparing responses to discovery.
- Perform general office duties including but limited to: processing mail, filing, copying, typing, etc…
- Input, retrieve, update, and delete information using computerized databases to maintain updated electronic files.
- Organize and maintain both the physical and electronic file as well as maintain office wide filing systems.
- File legal documents with proper courts, including e Filing.
- Maintain, update and schedule appointments, depositions, conferences, mediations, arrange meetings, and notify involved parties.
- Coordinate meetings, calls and conferences to include: ordering meals, scheduling conference rooms, room set up as well as pick-up conference rooms following meetings.
- Communicate with all clients, lawyers, administrator, staff members and court personnel in a timely and effective manner so that information is relayed accurately and in a courteous manner.
- Pay attention to detail in all work and see work through to its conclusion.
- 'Provide back-up reception duties as requested, which includes but not limited to answering phone lines, greeting and assisting clients over the telephone and in person, providing accurate information about all MRRF attorneys and services, and conveying messages.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience.
- High level of proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
- Customer service skills to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to clients over the phone, in person and via email.
- Superior grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
- Typing/Keyboarding skills of 60 WPM to complete a variety of legal documents and letters.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Legal Assistant, Paralegal or Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience working in a legal setting is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of legal terminology.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.

Compensation commensurate with experience
