Summary
Responsible for providing legal assistance to assigned legal staff, and acts as a liaison between attorneys, courts, witnesses, law enforcement agencies, other agencies, and the public. Assists legal staff by drafting all necessary legal documents.
Essential Duties
- Runs multiple Court dockets each week.
- Prepares all Court documents required for guilty pleas and trials, under the direction of the assigned attorney including judgments, dismissals, amendments, etc.
- Communicates with the Court Clerks to finalize plea paperwork.
- Emails judgments to defense attorneys prior to plea date.
- Files proper paperwork with the courts. Helps with phones when the receptionist is out.
- Other duties as may be assigned by Chief Administrator or his designee.
Position Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY: Must possess excellent research and writing skills and a strong ability to communicate and get along with others. Need to have basic computer and knowledge of all Microsoft Office products. Must posses the ability to handle stressful situations and the capability to learn and adapt quickly.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
Daily duties require sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, and bending as well as speaking to and listening to other people. This job will be performed in the usual and customary office and courtroom settings. Minimal heavy lifting and driving duties are required. The workweek is usually 40 hours per week, but may be longer if you are preparing for trial.
