Humanities Administrative Assistant and SummerCamp Director
Chatham University seeks applications for an Administrative Assistant in the Department of Humanities and Summer Camp Director
This position will be split as follows between the Humanities department and Summer Camp:
60% Humanities Department Administrative Assistant: under limited supervision, provide responsible, confidential administrative support to Humanities Chair.
40% Chatham Music & Art Day Camp Director: supervise Day Camp program and curriculum including planning, onsite daily supervision of camp environment for students and staff for six weeks each summer, and follow-up assessment.

Duties:
(60%) Coordinates and facilitates operations and procedures within Humanities Dept:
- Prepare departmental correspondence and documents (class schedules, department
calendar, student information, orientation materials, adjunct contract requests, etc.). - Monitor budgets and track expenditures; order supplies as necessary.
- Plan and coordinate department events, including event promotion, room reservations, food service, and travel arrangements.
- Assist in preparation of annual program reports and assessment.
- Serve as liaison with other University offices when needed.
- Manage departmental communications by phone and email.
- Maintain confidential records for departmental needs.
- Participate in required meetings.
- Supervise student assistants (work-study) when needed.
- Perform other duties assigned by Chair, including support for graduate programs.
(40%) Serves as Chatham Music & Art Day Camp Coordinator:
- Recruit and interview staff, including counselor and instructor positions.
- Oversee, develop, and assess day camp curriculum.
- Create instructor schedules and classroom assignments; reserve needed spaces.
- Train staff on policies and procedures.
- Coordinate payroll schedule and timesheets for staff.
- Work with campus food service on menu and payment plan.
- Review and update camp policies on camper behavior, risk management.
- Work with outside agencies to coordinate services.
- Coordinate open house for families.
- Other duties as assigned by Education Department Chair.
Qualifications:
- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills including management of scheduling, rosters, and records.
- Leadership experience or strong potential.
- Able to interact and work well with faculty, students, community members, and outside agencies.
- Three years of related experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Salary Range:
$36,600-$41,000. 35-hour work week.
