As an HR Specialist, Pension and Benefits, you are responsible for administration of GDTNA Pension & Savings Plans. Serves as the primary contact for plan consultants, participants, and other necessary parties for all Pension and savings plan 401(k) matters. Provides back up assistance to the Benefits Specialist as required.

Essential Functions/Duties:

• Drives and develops HRIS systems to improve effectiveness of delivery systems that support all HR/Benefit related activities.
• Pension Plan Administration to include calculating salaried and hourly pension benefits for terminated vested, survivor benefits, QDRO, hourly service awards, and disability retirements, determine eligibility.
• Authorize participant payments, additions, deletions, and changes in Northern Trust client server
• Ongoing processing to include overpayment recovery, beneficiary maintenance, and elections processing.
• Periodic responsibilities include death and address audits, VT notice fulfillment, SSA reporting, and audit support.
• Ensures proper welfare plan deductions are implemented where applicable. Authorizes funding wires.
• Executes all participant eligibility and data files to record keeper for Savings Plan Administration.
• Submit data, verify contributions (pre & post tax), and authorize funds to be wired to Trustee.
• Responsible for approval of participant statements, record keeping fees, and QDRO administration.
• Ensures compliance within Pension & Savings Plans activities including non-discrimination testing.
• Responsible for the preparation & transmission of all census data to actuaries.
• Provides back up assistance to the Corporate Benefits Specialist, to include FMLA, PFL, Short Term Disability, and assisting with open enrollment.
• Assist with Human Resources projects and other tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Bachelor’s degree in related discipline.
• 3-5 years of progressive Human Resource benefits experience; including defined benefit & contribution plans, personnel administration, benefit generalist.
• Experience in a union environment is preferred.
• Strong analytical & organizational skills.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of management and associate personnel.
• Proficient Microsoft computer skills with the ability to develop and execute complex excel & access programs.
