van Zelm Heywood & Shadford, Inc. is looking to employ an HR Generalist with excellent analytical and communication skills to support a successful and growing Mechanical and Electrical Engineering firm headquartered in Farmington, Connecticut.

Job Duties and Responsibilities will include the following:

• Consistent Recruiting, Hiring & On-Boarding of excellent staff.
• Employee Development and Performance, including administration of the review process.
• Employee Recognition & Engagement, including Wellness Initiatives and Employee Relations events.
• Training, counseling, and coaching staff.
• Maintain and implement policies and maintain employee communications.
• Benefits Coordination and Administration for enrollments and changes, from hiring to terminations, including COBRA & ACA reporting.
• Leave of Absence Administration.
• Maintain and report on workplace Health, Safety, and Privacy.
• Perform necessary administrative duties.
• Maintain employee files.
• Payroll Processing and PTO tracking.
• Back-up support to Finance.
• Other related Human Resources duties.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Business, Psychology, or another area related to Human Resources.
• At least 5 years’ experience in a Human Resources Generalist role.
• PHR or SPHR preferred but not required.
• Experience with Paylocity, and Deltek Software helpful but not required.
• High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Must be highly confidential.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with management and employees.
