Job Description
The Human Resources Generalist is a part of the district office of Georgia Cyber Academy. Reporting to the Human Resources Assistant Director, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for delivering excellent customer service to all school employees.
A successful Human Resources Generalist will be highly organized, works with a sense of urgency, has excellent customer service skills, builds strong relationships, and is motivated by the mission of Georgia Cyber Academy.   The Human Resources Generalist is located in the GCA district office and may require travel to off-site events and trainings.  This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities. 
Responsibilities
  • Onboards all new hires to include processing all requests to hire (RTH) - offer letters, employment contracts, sends new hire paperwork, enters all new hires in the HRIS and process I-9 verification.
  • Reviews background checks daily to ensure compliance with GCA standards.
  • Updates Infinite Campus as necessary - new hires, internal transfers & terminations.
  • Assists with the off boarding of employees.
  • Reviews teaching and clearance certificates and submits renewals, as required.
  • Participates in developing organizational/departmental processes and procedures.
  • Assists with all internal and external Human Resources related matters.
  • Assists with annual open enrollment for benefits.
  • Assists with employee training and development initiatives.
  • Assists with Gold sheet maintenance.
  • Completes tasks around performance management in TKES/LKES platform.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; regularly reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants and employees, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Promotes HR programs to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace.
  • Assists with employee engagement by recommending strategies to motivate employees.
  • Attends meetings, conferences and trainings as determined by the Director of Human Resources.
  • Other duties as reasonably assigned.
 
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field of study;
  • Three (3) or more years working in a high-volume record review and processing capacity;
  • Three (3) or more years of experience as a human resources generalist;
 
Certificates and Licenses
  • Clearance Certificate issued by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission required.
 
Other Requirements
  • Clear fingerprint/background check required.
  • Extensive knowledge of Wage and Hour requirements.
  • Ability to maintain 100% CONFIDENTIALITY and professionalism with payroll and personnel information - zero tolerance on divulging confidential information.
  • Proficient in Office 365, MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Frontline, and Google Suite Tools.
  • Ability to type 60+ words per minute accurately.
  • Proficient in use of online conference tools such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, GoToMeeting, or Others.
 
  • Highly developed research skills, strong critical thinking skills and solution focused.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate and communicate effectively within a team.
  • Dependable, able to work under pressure and meet deadlines as required, ability to manage multiple projects within established deadlines.
  • Demonstrates excellent written, verbal, clerical and organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to problem solve independently.
  • Maintain a professional home office without distraction during 8-4 workday if required to work from home. If circumstances warrant working from home, the employee will be monitored on camera and mic for the entirety of their working day.
  • Consistent access to reliable high-speed internet if working from home is warranted.
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time as required using personal vehicle.
Desired Qualifications
  • Previous experience in a school district human resources department.
  • Extensive knowledge of Georgia Professional Standards Commission certification requirements.
  • Advanced knowledge of CPI and educational district state reporting practices.
  • Advanced proficiency in Infinite Campus SIS platform.
  • Public notary or the ability to become a notary.
  • Knowledgeable of TKES/LKES evaluation system.
  • Previous experience managing/tracking FMLA, PTO, Sick Time and benefits.
  • Working knowledge of ADP and Frontline (HR Recruiting Software)
  • Proficient in use of Zoom conferencing tool

  • Work Schedule:  This is a Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM, 5 Days/Week, In-Office position. The noise level in the office is usually moderate (computers, printers, light foot traffic).
  • In-Person Attendance: In-person attendance at professional development, training, conferences, job fairs, meetings, school events, marketing events, and testing sites will be required several times per year.
 
  • Vision: (which may be corrected) to read small print; view a computer screen for prolonged periods.
  • Hearing: (which may be corrected) to answer telephones and tolerate exposure to noisy conditions.
  • Speech: to be understood in face-to-face or virtual communications; to speak with a level of proficiency and volume to be understood over a telephone and/or computer.
  • Upper Body Mobility: use hands and fingers to feel, grasp, and manipulate small objects; manipulate fingers, twist and bend at wrist and elbow; extend arms to reach outward and upward; use hands and arms to lift objects; turn, raise, and lower head.
  • Strength: to lift, push, pull and/or carry objects which weigh as much as 5 or more pounds on a frequent basis.
  • Environmental Requirements: encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work indoors.
  • Mental Requirements: read, write, understand, interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgement and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records.
