HR Generalist
CHAI: Comprehensive Housing Assistance, Inc. has an immediate opening for a HR Generalistto support our committed team working to fulfill the mission of strengthening community in northwest Baltimore. The HR Generalist will lead full cycle hiring, including developing job descriptions, coordinating interviews, managing hiring paperwork and onboarding, with continued support to staff through retention and appreciation efforts. This role will provide general support to the CHAI professional team by sharing resources, maintaining policies, supporting performance improvement, and advocating for positive team culture at CHAI.
The position requires flexibility, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, trustworthiness in confidential matters, and the ability to work well with all levels of management and staff. The HR Generalist must be organized and accountable and have strong attention to detail.
In this role, you will:
Recruitment/On-boarding:
- Develop job descriptions in collaboration with hiring managers, including liaising with salary consultant to set salary range
- Post positions, manage applications, conduct initial phone screens, coordinate interviews, and support reference checks and position offers and acceptance
- Handle all details related to onboarding, including paperwork, IT, office prep, supplies, initial onboarding schedule and staff welcome
Employee Support and Retention:
- Develop and share resources with the professional team to support all aspects of their employment at CHAI
- Work collaboratively with CEO and senior management, lead staff appreciation efforts and anniversary recognition
- Lead employee engagement initiatives, coordinate staff meetings, and support staff committees
Performance:
- Lead annual performance evaluation process
- Support supervisors as needed in performance improvements efforts for their supervisees
Records, Benefits and Payroll; Liaison with Associated
- Maintain working knowledge of employee benefits, including FMLA and worker's compensation
- Work collaboratively with Associated Director of Benefits to ensure smooth handling of all employee benefits matters
Applicants will have:
- 5-8 years of experience in human resources or a related field
- HR certification preferred
- Degree in psychology, human behavior, human resources, business, or social science preferred
- Supervisory experience preferred
- Experience working within an HR database; knowledge of Ceridian Dayforce a plus
Compensation and Benefits
Salary:$75,000-80,000,salary commensurate with experience.
