Our work is guided by our values, which include a commitment to diversity and respect for people, communities, and cultures. From a rewarding mission to career development and flexible schedules, there are many reasons to love life #insideTNC. Want to know more? One of TNC’s primary goals is to cultivate an inclusive work environment so that employees around the globe have a sense of belonging and feel that their unique contributions are valued. Recognizing that people bring talent and skills that have been developed outside the scope of a job, we take a holistic approach to recruitment that considers life experience in addition to the professional requirements listed in our postings. Please apply – we’d love to hear from you. To quote a popular saying at TNC, “you’ll join for the mission, and you’ll stay for the people.”

WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER

The Global Communications (GC) team operates at the heart of The Nature Conservancy’s (TNC’s) mission—supporting and leveraging global conservation work by providing focused communications strategies, top-tier media relations and promotions, and engaging content that targets select audiences with the power to change the future for people and nature. The Project Coordinator will support the implementation of communication strategies and tactics outlined in communication plans that aim to advance TNC’s Shared Conservation Agenda and 2030 goals. They will be part of a team which is responsible for coordination of content and promotion across the team on a project-by-project basis. They will collaborate regularly with Global Communications and other TNC staff across multiple time zones. The role will work to elevate major cross-cutting priority Communications Projects and marketing initiatives and goals primarily through project management, with occasional writing, editing, content creation and strategy support. They will operate out of TNC’s Worldwide Office in Arlington, Virginia and/or work from a remote office in the U.S.

The Global Communications Project Coordinator will support the development and implementation of communication projects and initiatives. They will work closely with various constituents such as Marketing division staff, Internal Communications, field offices, program consultants and vendors. They will play an essential function in coordinating across GC team offices and time zones, helping ensure smooth processes and information sharing. They will ensure deadlines are met by working effectively and collaboratively.

To support and lead project coordination, they will employ various institutional tools and principles to develop and execute work plans. This will range from hosting project scoping calls with our directors to setting roles, defining deliverables and timelines, etc. It will also involve preparing project overview decks, assembling project teams, setting/tracking production schedules, tracking KPIs, coordinating recap/status reports, managing project budgets, etc.

They will anticipate workflow bottlenecks and other challenges, adaptively managing to ensure the smoothest possible delivery of priority content and promotion. They will also provide critical capacity to the areas and projects of greatest import—providing assistance in writing memos and talking points for the team director to inform organizational leads of project launches. Likewise, they will work closely with Internal Communications to ensure broad staff awareness and engagement across internal channels. To further connect within the organization, they will act as a member of the divisional collective of project managers.

As the Global Communications Project Coordinator, you will:

  • Organize and coordinate diverse projects and activities with many variables within Global Communications priorities as laid out by the annual Global Communications plan.
  • Create visual project presentations in PowerPoint, coordinate recap reports.
  • Assist in management of project/editorial calendar in Asana.
  • Train in and apply TNC Highly Effectives Teams (HET) management style, along with Reccomend, Agree, Perform, Input, and Decide (RAPID) Decision-Making tools.
  • Assess gaps and obstacles to recommend and implement solutions.
  • Take responsibility and accountability for meeting priority goals and objectives in coordination with Communications Directors, Associate Director of Project Management & Campaigns, and other key team members.
  • Does not supervise any staff but may coordinate the work of peers on departmental project teams. May supervise volunteers, interns or temporary staff.
  • Identify issues and work collaboratively to resolve.
  • Opportunity to act independently on assigned tasks.
  • Coordinate projects and manage a timeline.
  • Duties are performed under general supervision and established guidelines.
  • Work within a budget to complete assigned projects or work.
  • Opportunity to act independently on assigned tasks.
  • Work with vendors/other parties to execute projects/deliverables.
