Job description

Summary

The Project Communications Coordinator provides intermediate-level support to public involvement activities, including administrative oversight, online research, database analysis, editorial and technical writing, and associated planning services for airport, transportation and community planning and design projects. Duties include participating in public meetings, making venue reservations, preparing mailing lists, placing advertisements, venue setup and breakdown, preparing meeting materials, recording meeting notes, and final meeting documentation. Other duties include stakeholder communications, preparing and editing written correspondence and reports, website development, collecting and managing public comments, preparing power point presentations, and other public involvement duties as assigned. A Project Communications Coordinator is expected to exercise a strong work ethic, demonstrate a desire to learn and grow, and have excellent organizational and communication skills. This person is expected to work well with others, absorb and apply constructive criticism, and seek guidance from more experienced members of the team as necessary.

Project Delivery

Produces the following under limited direction/oversight from others:

  • Fact sheets
  • Presentations, posters, boards, and other visual aids
  • StoryMaps and graphic storytelling
  • Meeting agendas, minutes, notes, and summaries
  • Event plans and associated event materials
Understanding Budget and Schedule

Moderate understanding of scopes, schedules, and budgets. With guidance, predicts the level of effort for individual tasks and successfully delivers tasks within that level of effort. Monitors results on moderately complex projects.

Industry Standards and Regulations

Familiarity with project materials to enable effective public involvement and communication support to be provided.

Client Interaction

Limited direct interaction, commonly in group settings. Responds to emails, attends meetings, and answers questions/comments with limited autonomy.

Level of Work/Accountability

Performs moderately complex technical work on projects for the assigned market sector. Operates with limited autonomy – work is supervised and reviewed by more senior staff.

Education and/or Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in communications, planning, or journalism preferred
  • Years of experience required: 2 years
  • Years of experience required with advanced degree: 1 year
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record
Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to create and interpret graphs and understand statistical analysis.
