We are seeking a dynamic General Counsel, Corporate ContractingExcellence to lead the Contract Excellence and Governance(CE&G) team. This is aunique opportunity to lead a team in the Global Contracts Center of Excellence. The position will be located in Charlotte, NC and report directly tothe Global Contracts Vice President within the Corporate L&GR function.

The CE&G team is focusedon: contracting improvement projects, processes, and analytics; contract templateand clause standardization and optimization; compliance audits and contractworkflow governance;  contract riskmanagement and enforcement opportunities; and the Art of Contracting andContracting Accelerator training strategy and curriculum. Projects andinitiatives span all businesses and include contracts related to products,projects, programs, services, licenses, SaaS, and multiple disciplines such as sales,procurement, commercial, governments, and regions.

The GeneralCounsel, Corporate Contracting Excellence position is responsible for all aspectsof people leadership, including performance management, allocation of assignments,hiring, and the professional development of CE&G staff.

The position is alsoresponsible for providing counsel and guidance to the organization oncontracting process optimization, development of clause language and strategicplaybooks with fallback positions and guidance. And for identifying andbuilding mutually beneficial internal partnerships in leading-edge disciplines suchas artificial intelligence and data analytics. 

This position requiressuperior collaboration skills, the business and legal acumen to provide strongstrategic leadership and counsel, and the ability to personally take oncritical projects when appropriate.

The successfulcandidate must exemplify "Think Big, Then Make it Happen". That is, be able to guidethe team in achieving both short term wins and long term transformationalchange.  

ADDITIONAL KEYRESPONSIBILITIES:

• Champion the drafting and ongoing refinement of gold standard clauses and playbooks, including providing guidance and counsel on critical legal concepts
• Implement and continue to evolve the Contract Risk Score (CRS) initiative enabled by Electronic Data Warehouse (EDW) analytics and artificial intelligence
• Design, monitor, and continuously improve a standard "look and feel" for all Honeywell Sales and Procurement contract templates
• Lead the refinement and management of the Contracts Knowledge Center playbooks and Art of Contracting curriculum
• Lead the curation of the Leap clause library and print templates
• Lead the design and implementation of periodic non-standard term audits, Leap compliance and use audits, and implementation of corrective actions
• Develop and lever world class contracting metrics, analytics and other digital transformation initiatives to drive compliant contracting processes across the businesses
• Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal customers at all levels of their organizations, including the Global Project Management Office, Commercial Excellence, and Customer Experience teams
• Ensure compliance with all laws, corporate policies, regulations and procedures
• Focus on continual improvement in the speed, quality, and simplicity of contract formation and lifecycle management (Leap, Non-Leap) processes, without compromising compliance

 

YOUMUST HAVE:

• Bachelor's degree

• Juris Doctor

• Minimum 8 years of experience in the drafting, formation, negotiation, and management of contracts
• Experience as the lead contract negotiator in a complex sales or procurement transaction

• Ability to analyze and interpret both the legal and commercial terms in complex contracts
• Demonstrated knowledge of contract administration and management
• Six Sigma Greenbelt certification preferred
• MS Office literacy
• US Government and Regional / Municipality contracting experience
