Job Description
What You'll Do
Working under the direction of the Executive Director of Career and Technical Education, and in collaboration with the Capital Area College Access Network Coordinator, and in accordance with established procedures and policies, the Career Development Specialist will implement services designed to assist local districts in meeting state and federal mandates related to career preparation in the Ingham ISD service area.
  • Provide consultation and implementation support to local districts on the use of career preparation assessment products in use across the Ingham ISD service area.
  • Schedule and implement Career Development lesson plans within local school districts.
  • Collaborate with the Capital Area College Access Network Coordinator and advisory team to develop and implement a comprehensive coordinated set of college access services to Wilson Talent Center students.
  • Serve as a resource to local district administrators and staff for planning, data collection, data analysis, implementation and evaluation efforts related to career preparation services.
  • Serve as an Ingham ISD representative for Career Development related partnerships and initiatives.
  • Support Wilson Talent Center in the implementation of career preparation activities including but not limited to student visitations and open house.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You'll Bring
Need to Have
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field required. Master's Degree preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of successful recent and relevant K-12 educational experience, such as a teacher or a counselor.
  • Demonstrates continuous learning as it relates to instructional, behavioral and therapeutic interventions for assigned students.
  • Demonstrated experience with career preparation activities.
  • Effective writing, critical thinking, problem solving and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop working relationships with a variety of community and educational stakeholders.
  • Understanding and knowledge of the importance of CTE and the integration of college and career readiness into curriculum and instruction. .
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully as part of a team.
  • Understanding of the continuous improvement process and able to demonstrate the ability to initiate data driven decision making.
  • Effective group facilitation skills and experience in training/presenting.

Working Conditions
Will work in general office conditions. Will frequently visit local school districts to provide consultation and support for Career Development activities. This position requires travel, for which the staff member must provide transportation.
