Duties: Maintain, communicate and train written policies and procedures. Formulate and recommend to operations and FSQA supervisors’ new policies or changes to current policies where needed. Conduct a continuing review of all QA policies, programs and practices to keep the company abreast of current practices and informed of new developments. Support, communicate and train to assist operations in ensuring that training, testing, and new product development is done in compliance with applicable USDA, customer, and company standards. Interact with USDA on all levels concerning issues with plant policies, facility, and programs. Daily interaction and direction of subordinates with respect to local representative and higher officials. Communicate and support performance appraisal system to fairness of associate appraisals. Ensure compliance with all company QA policies and procedures. Responsible for assisting assigned locations in ensuring mandatory information is maintained and gathered annually, pursuant to company policies and procedures. Conduct investigations with support of operations and support departments, to ensure constancy. Evaluate, advise and conduct orientation programs. Conduct training on QA and Food Safety related topics to ensure compliance with USDA, customer, and management development topics. Analyze turnover data, exit interviews, advises and coordinates activities as needed with operations. Support areas with retention of salary and hourly employees. Respond to questions regarding the understanding, interpretation, and implementation of QA, policies and procedures, which may come from the field staff and employees.
Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in chemical engineering, food technology, or a related field and three years of related supervisory experience in Quality Assurance and Food Safety. Basic computer skills and knowledge of standard programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint including data entry, reporting and query procedures. Experience with USDA Food Safety standards. Experience with implementing current Food Safety program for all aspects of the facility Food Safety/Regulatory Compliance programs including Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), Sanitation Standard Operation Procedures (SSOP’s), and Sanitation Performance Standards (SPS). Experience with the use of statistical process control. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be proficient in English reading and writing.
