THE POSITION

The Johnstown City Housing Authority is looking for a dedicated Fiscal Assistant with a great attention for detail to complete our team. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will be focusing on Accounts Payable, Tenant Accounting, unplanned or unscheduled reports or requests from the Comptroller, and clerical work for the accounting department. Examples of work may include posting accounting data to ledgers, books, registers, and journals, preparing summaries and accumulative reports, making routine trial balances, as well as preparing routine financial reports for the Comptroller. Additional responsibilities may include:
  • Maintaining expenditures and budgetary control accounts
  • Reviewing claims
  • Receiving payments, issuing receipts, and posting/reconciling bank accounts
  • Analyzing forms, correspondence, reports, or records for accuracy

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • Two years of experience performing bookkeeping or clerical accounting work; or
  • An associate degree in accounting or business administration including or supplemented by 6 credits in accounting; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • Hiring preference for this vacancy may be given to candidates who live within Cambria County. If no eligible candidates who live within Cambria County apply for this position, candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
