This position is responsible for the full scope of employee life-cycle duties for our Labeling & Coding Business Unit with divisions located across the U.S and Canada. The person in this position must be able to apply their strong aptitude in HR to drive and implement the successful completion of HR initiatives at the business unit and division level and as developed by the corporate function. This role reports organizationally to the Business Unit President for Labeling & Coding and functionally to the Vice President of Human Resources and has up to 3 direct reports.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Align business unit HR goals with corporate HR goals; set division-level strategy to meet those goals;
• Assess organizational effectiveness from multiple views of impact and contribute to the development of solutions to support business strategy;
• Facilitate organization planning and design with business unit and division management;
• Lead and support business unit and division-level succession planning activities including key position identification, successor nomination, and candidate development;
• Handle all aspects of successor candidate development including job skill identification and gap analysis and development plan creation and oversight;
• Manage BU HR staff to further develop and coach toward balancing business needs with sound HR practices and build strength of the HR organization.
• Anticipate, define, and execute staffing strategy with business unit and divisional leadership, and provide leadership training and coaching on best HR practices;
• Provide consultation to business unit and division leaders regarding building bench-strength through talent-development and other strategies applying wound business analysis of benefits and risks;
• Actively monitor the business unit and divisional organizational capabilities from a business and employee development perspective and lead and drive the implementation of development strategies;
• Promote company’s performance management philosophy and methodology to achieve 100% application by all supervisors for all employees;
• Coach business leaders to influence and align behaviors to optimize employee performance and goal achievement;
• Develop and apply creative staffing approaches to finding A-players
• Provide coaching to business leaders to provide practical and patient application to the hiring of the right employees and in finding the next generation of leaders for the company;
• Guide hiring managers in developing the profile, sourcing approach, selection process, compensation and job offer strategy;
• Consult with internal resources and lead inquiries regarding complex employee relations issues with a highly developed expertise in legal, risk, compliance, and security;
• Track HR metrics for division, report to senior management and proactively address areas of need;
• Conduct data-driven analysis of trends and pro-actively address areas of need, such as in turnover, deviations from compensation policy, worker safety, savings plan enrollment, etc.;
• Develop or support retention plans and methods to counteract clearly identified risks.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• A degree in Human Resources or related field of study;
• Minimum of 8-10 plus years’ experience as an HR Manager/Director in a manufacturing environment;
• Experience with a multi-site HR role and ability to act as a leader of leaders to effectively lead across the entire spectrum of HR service needs;
• Ability to accurately diagnose organizational needs, possesses the political awareness to gain support through the development of a clear strategy and goals;
• Ability to deliver results and possess excellent leadership skills;
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations;
• Experience in design, development and implementation of training programs;
• Must possess professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills;
• Ability to motivate, inspire confidence, and produce quality work within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects;
• Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings with all levels of the organization;
• Proven ability to work as a team player.
• Ability to travel up to 25-50%.
