Description
Position Overview: Under the general supervision and guidance of the President, the Director of Family Engagement and Enrollment will establish and build relationships with families to support family well-being and strong parent-childrelationships. The Director will manage the administration and ongoing monitoring of Head Start eligibility, recruitment, selection, enrollment & attendance of ND's Early Head Start & Head Start program to ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards.
Responsibilities and Functional Tasks
  • Ensure all Family Engagement team receives coaching.
  • Facilitate reflective supervision for direct reports.
  • Establish opportunities for reflective practice groups.
  • Collaborate with program leaders to ensure children and families receive the support and services they need.
  • Manage Policy Council that includes but not limited to member selection and the establishment of Policy Council Executive members.
  • Attend Board of Directors meetings as requested.
  • Assist in the completion of agency's annual self-assessment, community needs assessment, annual program report and other projects as needed.

Administrative and Leadership
  • Manage and monitor department budget(s) and ensure goals for in-kind is met.
  • Direct the Enrollment/Retention and Family Engagement teams to maximize childcare authorizations and ensure enrollment goals are met.
  • Supervise the Family Engagement and Enrollment team to adhere to all Head Start Performance Standards, local licensing requirements and other compliance requirements.
  • Actively support ND's strategic plan.

Family Engagement
  • Collaborate with other program leaders to develop and implement a comprehensive Parent Handbook.
  • Manage Enrollment and Retention and Family Advocates to facilitate the enrollment process for Early Head Start and Head Start children.
  • Review and analyze children and family information to assure it is accurate, current and appropriately documented.
  • Monitor, evaluate and implement procedures to improve services for ND's children and families.

Supervision of Staff
  • Facilitate bi-weekly meetings with direct reports.
  • Conduct monthly reflective supervision for direct reports.
  • Lead hiring process, onboard staff and provide ongoing training for the Family Engagement and Enrollment Team.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Human Services or related field required.
  • At least 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of Head Start Standards or similar standards.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development, assessment and evaluative methods and tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate staff and facilitate staff development.
  • Ability to manage in a complex organizational structure.
  • Ability to manage in a high intensity environment.
  • Strong time management and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work in with culturally diverse families and low-income families.
  • Valid driver's license and liability insurance of $100,000/$300,000 on first day of employment.

Preferences
  • Master's degree preferred.

  • Ability to respond quickly and competently to an emergency or crisis situation in order to keep staff and children safe.
