The HR Director Commercial Functions plays a leadership role in driving accelerated business performance in the Sales and Marketing organization through talent acquisition / development / retention, employee engagement and workforce planning. Emphasis is on leadership development, leadership succession, organization design, capability development, and other initiatives that will lead to stronger talent pipelines. This leader partners with the Functional leaders in Sales, Customer Care, Commercial Operations and Marketing. This is an HR Leadership team position and reports directly to the Zurn Elkay CHRO, and is based at the Zurn Elkay Corporate Headquarters in Milwaukee, WI.

  • Partner with Commercial senior leaders to develop short- and long-term talent strategies which will enable business success for the customer. Implement measurable action plans and monitor success. Have an eye for continuous improvement and have agility to evolve plan for success as needed.
  • Act as a sounding board for Sr leaders as they develop, coach, and manage performance of their organization. Coach and mentor leaders and associates in the use of various tools, concepts, and practices around continuous improvement and 80/20 methodologies related to their people strategy. Be comfortable to offer differing opinions and influence leaders to collaborate for a better outcome.
  • Responsible for the succession health, attraction, development, and retention of each business's workforce, ensuring a strong diverse pipeline for future growth. Lead and implement business wide talent management strategies including, performance, succession, talent review, work force planning, compensation (including sales incentive plans), and movement.
  • Elevate our talent agenda by strengthening the capability framework as well as identification of feeder roles within the organization for high potential development to Sr. leadership levels.
  • Plans, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organization's human resource compliance and strategy needs. Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for hiring and talent management.
  • As a member of the HR LT, partner to evolve the Zurn Elkay HR function vision, pillars, develop the functional capabilities and develop the HR organization. Leads their team and facilitates professional development and training activities for HR staff.
  • Results and data driven, measures their and their team's success, and monitors key HR Metrics for insights and success.
  • Performs other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • 10+ years HR business partner experience in a complex, growing, matrixed environment, with 3+ years in leadership.
  • 3+ years' experience in commercial HR facing roles, developing strong sales and commercial leaders and relevant competencies.
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Human Resource Management, Organizational Development or Business Administration. Masters' degree in an HR-related field or PHR/SPHR certification preferred but not essential.
  • Experience in implementing and managing sales incentive programs, career paths in commercial functions and developing best in class commercial leaders.
  • Understanding of Rep Agency Sales structure, and the implications on the commercial team.
  • Strong analytical skills, results driven, high sense of urgency, and ability to prioritize work based on the needs of the customer.
  • Ability to build and maintain credible working relationships with executive level leaders.
  • Proven ability to work with ambiguity and in a fast-moving environment.
  • Demonstrated competence in the various HR functional areas: management/executive coaching; change management; organizational development; recruitment; compensation; employee relations.
  • Strong general business knowledge with ability to translate business needs into an HR agenda.
  • Must have outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Well-developed team building and influencing skills, unquestioned integrity, and the experience, confidence, and stature to effectively address sensitive HR issues.
  • Informal "roll up your sleeves and get it done" leadership style that is people-centric, effective, and marked by a high level of energy.
  • Proactive in developing and effectively introducing alternatives to current HR practices, as appropriate.
  • Attention to detail, follow-through and commitment to high quality delivery.
  • Highly curious, with a continuous improvement mindset.
