The Parks, Recreation, and GolfDeputy Director will oversee and support the overall department, create and manage the department's budget, and ensure the department's vision and mission align with the City's. In addition, they will be responsible for overseeing the Park Ranger program, park planning, and capital improvement projects. They will hold meetings with the community, share work plans with our City Council, and attend leadership and council meetings to ensure they understand processes and create rapport. With their ability to listen to and incorporate diverse perspectives, we can ensure that our parks and recreation facilities genuinely represent the communities we serve.
To be successful, the Deputy Director should possess solid leadership skills, fundamental knowledge of park planning and capital projects, and exceptional organizational skills. An outstanding Deputy Director will prioritize including diverse perspectives and voices while planning and executing park projects. They should be willing to provide bold, insightful, and creative input, actively engaging with local community groups and underrepresented populations to ensure that all stakeholders have a say in decision-making.
Some exciting opportunities are on the horizon, including the chance to remodel the Buffalo Run Golf Course clubhouse and create two new parks. As Deputy Director, you'll be responsible for mentoring and coaching the Park Ranger program, managing park planning projects, and ensuring that all projects are completed on time and to a high standard. With your leadership, guidance, and concerted effort to include diverse perspectives, we can create spaces that are more inclusive, welcoming, and reflective of the needs and interests of our community.
Hiring salary is dependent upon experience.
The hiring range for this position is $101,370 - $136,850/annual.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required in Parks, Recreation, Planning, Administration and Tourism or related field. Minimum of six years of progressive experience managing a Parks, Recreation or Golf Division. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered. Must possess a valid driver's license.

- Golf Course Green Fees: Employees can play the City's award-winning Buffalo Run Golf Course at a rate of $9.00 for 9-holes or $18.00 for 18-holes. Employees can also purchase golf merchandise at discounted prices.
