Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Assistant Vice Chancellor and Title IX Coordinator, the Associate Director of Case Resolutions and Deputy Title IX Coordinator strategically leads and supervises the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Office of Equity (OE) Campus Case Resolution team, including an Intake Coordinator, two Civil Rights Investigators, and a Coordinator of Safety and Supportive Measures. This position works closely with the entire Office of Equity staff and other relevant University units to provide guidance and direction to the OE staff in order to effectively comply with federal and state discrimination and harassment laws and related University policies and procedures, including those regarding sexual misconduct and protected class discrimination and harassment to address discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, and retaliation complaints.
The Director and OE Case Resolution team responds to all complaints of protected class discrimination, harassment, retaliation, sexual misconduct, intimate partner violence, and stalking involving students, faculty, and/or staff from both campuses. The Director will supervise all nondiscrimination and sexual misconduct investigations and serve as the Office of Equity's senior investigator.
The Director's duties may include:
  • Conducting preliminary intake interviews in a timely and impartial manner
  • Assessing reports of discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, and retaliation
  • Evaluating risk factors and referring parties to other services for safety and counseling as needed
  • Determining whether a formal investigation is warranted by the facts of each case.
  • Conducting formal investigations, including drafting notices of investigation, interviewing witnesses, reviewing documents, creating written evidence summaries, and drafting final investigation reports
  • Making determinations regarding whether a violation of the University's Non-Discrimination Policy or Sexual Misconduct Policy has occurred.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in business, business administration, education, social sciences, healthcare administration, public administration, communications, or a directly related field from an accredited institution. Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis, but not for the specific experience.
  • 4-6 years of related experience conducting workplace, student conduct, discrimination, sexual harassment, or similar investigations.
  • Supervision experience.

Conditions of Employment:
This position is anticipated to have a flexible hybrid option that is subject to change at any time based on university requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's, JD, or other professional-level degree in a related field from and accredited institution.
  • Experience in Higher Education, college student conduct, or civil rights/equal opportunity field.
  • Experience writing fact-finding reports in a human resources office, equal opportunity office, or office similarly situated.
  • Experience with Title IX and Title VII compliance in a higher education setting.
  • Experience with appropriate application of trauma-informed investigation practices.

  • Demonstrated thorough understanding of knowledge of employment and educational civil rights laws, regulations, and case law and regulations around protected class discrimination or harassment, including Title IX, Title VII, ADA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission Guidance, Office for Civil Rights Guidance and the Colorado Anti-Discrimination Act.
  • Understanding of, and sensitivity to, the complexities of experiencing sexual harassment and sexual assault.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position begins at $90,779.
The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
