CCIA seeks a communications professional with a strong interest in the digital economy and technology policy to develop social media campaigns and other materials to convey the association’s views to policymakers and the public. This position will help support rollout of studies by CCIA’s Research Center with materials including social media, press releases, blog posts and ad campaigns and review content from various PR firms and projects. The Communications Manager will report to the Communications Director. 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Planning and execution of editorial calendar for CCIA’s social media channels with multimedia, and covering relevant events live for CCIA social media channels
• Writing press releases and media outreach around CCIA advocacy and research efforts
• Managing communications around special projects for CCIA members
• Working directly with counterparts at member companies and PR firms
• Negotiating compromises among competing stakeholders in the development and executing of communications efforts
• Building and maintaining press lists and gathering media metrics for regular reports to association leadership and membership

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in government, politics or communications and one to three years relevant work experience in policy communications at an association, political office, think tank or public relations agency, or equivalent. Recent college graduates with strong internships at one of these and a letter of recommendation considered. 

The ideal candidate will also possess:

• Strong writing skills with a demonstrated capability of communicating quickly and effectively about complicated subjects in varying levels of detail and complexity
• Experience producing social media content and knowledge of running social media campaigns
• Familiarity using online platforms to measure media metrics
• Knowledge of Canva or equivalent tools for graphics creation
• Ability to devise strategies around advocacy campaigns using a range of tools from earned media to paid advertising
• Knowledge of the technology sector, the digital economy and U.S. political dynamics
• Ability to build working relationships with reporters and other media producers, in particular involving technology and economic beats
• Previous work or internship in policy communications or communications for a trade association, industry body, think tank, or other entity focused on policy and economics

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
