Job description

DCG Communications (DCG) is seeking a well-rounded, organized, thorough and proactive Communications Specialist to support content development and communications planning on behalf of our client, The Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Rural Health. The Specialist will be responsible for developing content for a variety of communications products and executing integrated communications plans designed to reach multiple audiences through, but not limited to, email, social media, blog posts, websites, and partner outreach, as well as presentations and talking points in preparation of client events and activities. Reporting to a Senior Director, the Specialist will be the day-to-day Project Manager working in tandem with the client team and managing two DCG direct reports.
What's a good fit?
  • 4 - 6 years of relevant experience supporting multi-faceted communications and marketing campaigns
  • Industry experience working with a PR agency, communications-focused federal contractor and preferably with VA or with Veterans topics
  • Experience in developing and executing integrated communications plans through digital and traditional media and a variety of collateral materials with the ability to grasp tone and voice of audience
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and effectively manage competing deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Open to domestic travel on behalf of the client
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
Desired Experience:
  • Project management to include familiarity of federal contracts, deliverable schedules, budgets and building strong client and team relationships
  • Hands on employee management and staff development
  • Experience in creating and implementing integrated communications campaigns for the veteran community
